Why paint looks dull

Most of what makes paint look tired is not the color itself but damage in the clear coat on top of it. Fine swirls, light scratches, water spots, and haze scatter light instead of reflecting it, which is why paint can look clean and still lack depth.

Paint correction levels that clear coat with a machine polisher. Before any polishing, the paint is hand washed, foam bathed, and decontaminated with an iron treatment and clay bar so nothing gets ground into the finish.

Choosing one step or two

One-step correction is a single polishing stage. It suits newer or well kept paint with light swirls and dullness, and it delivers a big jump in gloss for the time involved.

Two-step correction adds a heavier compounding stage before the finishing polish. It is for paint with deeper swirls and scratches, and it is the closest thing to a flawless finish. If you are unsure which your vehicle needs, text a few photos and we will help you choose.

Paint Correction questions

Ask a question

Is paint correction done at my home?

Yes. Takumi is fully mobile, including paint correction. We bring water, power, and our polishing equipment to your location.

Will correction remove every scratch?

Correction removes defects within the clear coat. Two-step correction takes out deeper swirls and scratches, but a scratch that has gone through the clear coat cannot be polished out. We talk through what to expect at the start of the appointment.

Is the paint protected afterward?

Yes. Both one-step and two-step correction finish with paint protection applied after polishing.
